Doubling Rocket Performance

The Integrated High Payoff Propulsion Technology Program is a joint industry, military and NASA effort to double the performance of current rocket engines by 2010. Science@NASA has an interesting article, Building a Better Rocket Engine, which outlines some of the design changes which will make this possible.
