Multi Touch and Thin Air Displays

The Multi-Touchscreen has amazing potential and I'm certain we'll increasingly see it in all sorts of applications. The person who posted this claims that Apple has patented the technology. As for the Helio display, it's amazing that it can display 2D images in mid-air and that's cool and everything, but what is the advantage of having your image floating in the air (besides entertainment)?
