Mars is incredibly bright in the sky. It's making it's closest approach to Earth since August 2003, and won't be this close again until 2018, so get out and see it.
Although Mars was actually closer to us in 2003, it was too low in the sky for good viewing. Seeing surface detail on Mars is alway iffy, but me and my trusty little Meade ETX-90 will be giving it a try!
