Crusher - Unmanned Robotic Vehicle

Scientific American covers the roll-out of the Crusher Robot, an 8-ton, high-mobility military vehicle designed to find its way through rough terrain with little or no human guidance. The report includes video of the robot in action at the demonstration and in field trials, as well as discussion by, and an interview with, John Bares, the director of Carnegie Mellon University's National Robotics Engineering Consortium in PIttsburgh. NREC designed and built the Crusher vehicles and is now outfitting them with sensors and computers for autonomous operation.
