I have gots to gets me one of these! Microsoft Surface is a multitouch interface similar to that demonstrated at the 2006 TED Conference and featured on Astroroach back in August. This kind of interface blurs the virtual and physical world in an almost magical way.
Happily, Microsoft is about to commercialize this technology under the name Surface, but unforunatly their first iteration of Surface is intended for commercial partners like hotels, restaurants, retailers and entertainment venues. Initial partners include T-Mobile, Harrah's and Sheraton.
It should be available sometime this winter. Until then, they'll be demoing it on June 9 at the Sheraton New York, and in August at SIGGRAPH in San Diego.
