This Must Be A Joke

NASA's Office of Strategic Communications has released the "graphic element" above to "illustrate and enhance the Core Message" that "NASA explores for answers that power our future" and directs that this hideous thing "is to be used on all Agency communications materials. The other messages in the Message Construct are also market-tested and should be used where best applicable."

This is market-tested? I'd hate to see what it beat out. This is the best NASA can do to generate public support? What child will be inspired to study science or engineering?

"NASA explores for answers that power our future" - note that NASA doesn't actually power our future, but they will provide answers that will power our future. Maybe. At any rate they're exploring for answers, and if they find them, by golly somebody could use them to power the future!

I'm serious as a heart attack. Everyone involved in the creation of this should be fired, demoted, or moved to where they can do no more damage - whatever you can do to civil servants. I can not believe how clueless these people are.
