Right-Brained vs Left-Brained

Your perception of which way the figure is turning - clockwise or counter-clockwise - is supposed to indicate if you are primarily right-brained or left-brained. If you see the figure turning clockwise, you are right-brained, and vice versa.

Generally when I first glance at the figure it is turning clockwise, meaning I'm right-brained. According to the article, the majority of people see it turning counter-clockwise.

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses logic
detail oriented
facts rule
words and language
present and past
math and science
can comprehend

acknowledges
order/pattern perception
knows object name
reality based
forms strategies
practical
safe

RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses feeling
"big picture" oriented
imagination rules
symbols and images
present and future
philosophy & religion
can "get it" (i.e. meaning)
believes
appreciates
spatial perception
knows object function
fantasy based
presents possibilities
impetuous
risk taking

The Herold Sun did not disclose where this illusion came from or how left and right brain differences were determined, so it's probably a giant load of weapons-grade crappola. But it's fun to try and get your brain to percieve the figure turning in the opposite direction.

ACK! At first it was counter-clockwise, then after staring at the unextended leg for a minute, it's now clockwise, and I can't force myself to see it counter again. sweet fancy moses, that's a good mindf$#%.

I can make it change, but not while I'm looking directly at it. I have to glance away.

The key is to wait and it changes itself. There's no trick to it...just a matter of letting it happen.

The part of this post that was most interesting was the definitions of what is supposes to apply to left and right. They don't seem to correlate especially well based on my situation.
