I spent this Father's Day weekend doing for my family what my Dad had done on so many Sundays - cooking BBQ chicken on the grill; grocery shopping; fixing things; and watching sports on TV.
At his funeral, person after person came up to me and told me how my dad seemed more like a dad to them than their own father. They told me how his support and encouragement had helped them graduate, or start their own business, or get through a tough time. He was a father-figure to far more than just me and my brother, and I'm certain he was remembered yesterday by all of those who were fortunate enough to have crossed his path.
I miss you Dad.
