This is a great idea for the "American Idol" generation. Each week this site will post five candidates for spending cuts, and the public can vote either online or by cell phone for what they'd prefer to see cut. The Republicans will then bring the "winner" to the House floor for an up-or-down vote.
Some say this is only a PR move because the Democrats will shoot down anything proposed by the Republicans, so it's extremely unlikely anything will pass. Democrats will also point out that Republicans have done their share of wasteful spending in the past. True, but what matters now is what are you willing to do about it?
These first cutting candidates are definitely the low-hanging fruit. I'd vote for "All of the above" if it were an option.
