We Are Surrounded By Grandeur

In my Air Force days I found myself deployed to a secret desert location in the Middle East. Usually, the site was brilliantly illuminated by a number of floodlights. One night the generators were shut down for a few hours (not sure why) and we found ourselves in an absolutely dark, moonless, clear desert night. As our eyes adjusted we were amazed by how many stars were now visible. We laid on our backs, staring up at the Milky Way, watching huge numbers of shooting stars flare and die. I'd never seen the sky like that before, and sadly I've never seen it that way since.

We are surrounded by and are part of a grand and magnificent universe.
