Gates Orders All US Nuclear Material Inventoried

From CNN:
Defense Secretary Robert Gates has formally ordered the Air Force, Navy and Defense Logistics Agency to conduct an inventory of all U.S. nuclear weapons and nuclear weapon-related materials to make sure all items are accounted for, according to a Pentagon memo released Thursday.

You'd expect such materials to be inventoried on a regular basis. Maybe even daily. But with nuclear detonators recently being sent to Taiwan accidentally, and that incident in August 2007 with the B-52 accidentally carrying six nuclear weapons cross-country, it appears that we're not paying enough attention to these damned things.

The words "accidentally" and "nuclear" should never appear in the same sentence.
