Skidboot is smart. Very smart. In fact, the smartest dog you'll ever see. On the Astroroach blog you might expect this to be a story about non-human intelligence but it's not. It's about being aware of and thankful for your blessings.
Skidboot and his friend David Hartwig live about 20 miles up the road from me in Quinlan, Texas. My wife and I saw Skidboot many years ago during my first visit to the State Fair, and we were completely amazed by his abilities.
Yet it's the bond between David and Skidboot, and David's appreciation that he was given a special gift, which is ultimately most compelling. David Hartwig displays compassion, gratitude and acceptance, and seems at peace with himself. So should we all be.

I LOVE Skidboot! I watch everything I can with him in it. How sad that he's going blind! I'll cry when he passes, for sure.

I checked out your pics ... Andy looks just like Soccer! We have a dog that looks like yours, too, but haven't put a pic of her yet. We will.
