Watching congressional hearings on the financial crisis is enough to make you puke, especially the "questioning" which is nothing more than political posturing and holier-than-thou "told you so" statements. But I noticed that there is one thing that almost everyone agrees on.
The American People (tm) are fed up with the outrageous compensation given to executives who have their organizations into the ground. These executives had control over a technically complex system that most people only vaguely understood, and thus were not questioned in any detail about their decisions. Nobody cared anyway, since in the short term the organizations realized financial gains.
These executives were richly rewarded for their deception, while in reality their poor management desicions put orgaizations at tremendous risk. Because what they managed was technical, complex and obscure, no one noticed.
Hey wait a minute...seems like I've seen this movie before,.
