Godspeed Atlantis, Goodbye Shuttles

This was my view of the last Space Shuttle launch, Atlantis STS-135. I'm happy I was able to see this historic event in person, but as an unabashed Shuttle Hugger, it's been extremely bittersweet.

I wish I could have been there to see it. It must be a amazing sight to see a shuttle launch. It must be even more amazing to be on board. I really do think that it signifies the end of a era of human achievement. I don't think private companies will explore space with the same fervor and dignity that NASA have. I wonder what Gene Roddenberry would say? Steve from U.K.
